About Garet Libbey

I believe in the innate uniqueness of every individual. When we learn to appreciate and honor ourselves, we foster a sense of belonging not in spite of our differences, but because of them. The journey toward fully expressing our individuality is complicated, evolving over time. As a coach, my role is to guide clients in delving deeper to bring forth the most authentic version of themselves.
To me, coaching and leadership development represent a pursuit of equity. I am convinced that by empowering leaders and teams to lead authentically, we can create sustainable, inclusive cultures that strengthen our communities and organizations, making them more equitable for everyone.

In collaboration with leaders, I create opportunities for them to step into their power with a spirit of curiosity and empathy. I hold a particular passion for supporting women leaders and leaders in transition. My focus revolves around goal setting, leveraging values and purpose to enhance one’s leadership, and striking a balance between professional and personal life. Additionally, I am dedicated to forging healthy and enduring leadership models and work cultures.

With over 25 years of service in the field of education, I've held roles across school leadership – from a teacher in classrooms to an all-school senior administrator. I have led curricular design and implementation; the development and execution of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) programs, systems and structures; the design and management of recruitment and hiring processes (including senior executive roles); and the transformation of talent management systems and procedures. A common thread woven throughout my career is my unwavering commitment to co-creating spaces for growth and learning, allowing everyone to express their authentic selves. Guiding individuals and teams through change, while fostering and nurturing healthy, inclusive cultures, remains central to my professional purpose. Currently, I serve as a consultant and coach in the fields of education and other nonprofit sectors, specializing in talent management and leadership development, as well as group and team facilitation and development.

Family, friends, and community are deeply important to me. I am lucky enough to be married to my best friend and, together, we are raising our two children - a high school daughter and a middle school son. When I am not at their sporting events, I love to be outdoors exercising or gardening; spending time with a wonderful community of friends; or being by and on the water with family on Lake Ontario, my home away from Cleveland. I also volunteer with several organizations in Cleveland - Breakthrough Public Schools and Facing History and Ourselves.
